Sports betting technology from across the pond comes to Iowa.
On July 7, UK-based bookmaker Betfred Sports launched its mobile and online sportsbook at Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort.
The online offering is an extension of Betfred Sports’ existing brick-and-mortar sportsbook at Grand Falls.
Betfred now has an Iowa retail sportsbook
Betfred launched its first retail sportsbook in the US at Grand Falls on Jan. 30. Bryan Bennett, COO of Betfred USA Sports, stated in a press release:
“We’re very proud of our partnership with Elite Casino Resorts to bring a Las Vegas-quality sportsbook to Grand Falls Casino and sports bettors in Sioux Falls, northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota. Grand Falls already provides a fantastic gaming and resort experience to its patrons and we look forward to adding to that with the Betfred Sportsbook.”
The Betfred Sportsbook includes:
- 3,500 square feet of gaming space
- Video wall with 32 TVs, including four 86-inch TVs
- 80 TV screens
- Five high-top tables
- Plush chairs and recliners
- Sportsbook bar & grill
- VIP booths
Iowa casinos and racetracks continue to follow the state’s health guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic. The health requirements at Grand Falls include wearing a face mask while playing table games, social distancing and hand sanitizing.
Step one: In-person registration
Due to the state’s in-person registration requirement, you must first visit the Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood before you can partake in online sports betting in Iowa. This mandate will expire at the end of the year.
Once you are registered, you can wager using the Betfred Sports betting website from anywhere within the Hawkeye State.
Timing works out well for its launch, as PGA Tour and NASCAR events continue to happen weekly. The NBA and MLB are scheduled to resume in a couple of weeks. The NHL return date is Aug. 1.
Iowa helps Betfred expand in the US
