FanDuel Online In Time For The NFL Season In Iowa

Posted on September 3, 2020 - Last Updated on September 13, 2020

The 2020-21 NFL season begins Sept. 10, and with no University of Iowa football happening this fall, NFL games will be of even greater importance for sportsbooks in Iowa than usual. That’s why the launch of FanDuel’s Iowa online sportsbook on Thursday comes at a crucial time.

Once they are registered, residents of and visitors to the Hawkeye State can bet on FanDuel’s mobile app and website. For the remainder of this year, that registration is a bit more complicated than it has to be.

How to register for the FanDuel Iowa online sportsbook

The law in IA mandates that people who wish to bet online have to complete their registrations for their accounts in-person right now. You can go through almost the entire process on your computer, smartphone or tablet, but you must visit one of FanDuel’s two brick-and-mortar sportsbooks to go all the way.

In Iowa, FanDuel’s facility partner is the Diamond Jo casino brand. You can visit either property in Dubuque or Northwood to finish your registration with a valid photo ID.

Although it’s an inconvenience, it’s a one-time hassle. At that point, you’re good to go on either the FanDuel Sportsbook Android or iOS app or desktop website.

Alternatively, you could opt to wait until New Year’s Day. The in-person registration requirement in IA expires on Jan. 1, 2021. At that point, Iowans will be able to register for all legal IA online sportsbooks completely over the web.

Obviously, waiting out the rest of 2020 would rob you of some great betting opportunities. As a matter of fact, FanDuel has some promos ongoing right now that might convince you to make a trip to one of the Diamond Jo casinos.

Promos for new FanDuel Sportsbook customers in Iowa

If you’ve never bet with FanDuel anywhere, you’re entitled to some new customer promos. These include a risk-free first bet, worth up to $1,000 in site credit.

Just for this weekend, FanDuel has a special tennis pool with $20,000 in prizes and another promotion in conjunction with TVG for the 146th Kentucky Derby. That Derby promotion is for new TVG bettors and also grants you a risk-free bet worth up to $200.

If horse racing and tennis aren’t your things, there are specials for the NBA and NHL playoffs along with MLB regular-season games as well. You can also combine those sports with some insurance that FanDuel is currently offering.

Place a parlay of at least five legs in any sport and if you hit on all but one of your legs, FanDuel will refund your wager up to $25 in site credit. Several of FanDuel’s current promos for Iowans are all about the NFL, however.

NFL specials online at FanDuel Iowa right now

One of these specials is something you should act on quickly. The Road to 55 Bonus focuses on NFL futures wagers. Place a bet of at least $50 on any team to win Super Bowl LV. For each win that team records during the regular season, FanDuel will credit your account with $5.

Right now, the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are the favorites to win the biggest football game of the year at +600. The Green Bay Packers sit at +3,100, the Minnesota Vikings at +2,500, and the Chicago Bears at +4,400 on FanDuel.

If you want to get in on some NFL action but don’t want to stake any cash, FanDuel has you covered there as well. It offers two different free “pick’em games” for Iowans.

All the action is at your fingertips after you’ve visited Dubuque or Northwood. If you win some bets on FanDuel during this upcoming NFL season, that trip will become a wise investment.
