Your tee time is fast approaching in Iowa.
The warmer weather of spring is overtaking a frigid winter in The Hawkeye State, which means it’s time for gamblers to turn from the green felt tables to the green grasses of casino golf courses. A few casino or casino-adjacent golf courses will begin to open to golfers in the coming weeks.
Casino courses in Iowa that you need to play this spring
Now that the Super Bowl is over and March Madness is winding down, Iowa online sports betting will move to the next big sports contest: The Masters. The first Major of the year is just a couple weeks away. Action at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia begins April 6.
Unfortunately, most golfers in Iowa won’t be playing in the PGA’s marquee event. Here are some golf courses at Iowa casinos that will be opening soon for the rest of us.
Blue Top Ridge
At Riverside Casino & Golf Resort, Blue Top Ridge will be open for play starting March 31, weather permitting. The course’s 2023 charity golf event schedule is available on its website, with the first one being an event for the University of Northern Iowa on May 18. More information for the events can be obtained by contacting the casino’s Golf Shop.
The 7,400-yard, 18-hole course was designed by Rees Jones. It overlooks two rivers and some man-made lakes to go along with its diverse terrain. It is accompanied by a golf clubhouse, pro shop, and teaching and practice facilities.
The Falls at Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort
The Falls at Grand Falls Casino will open for play on April 15, as long as the weather cooperates. Golfers can book tee times now.
Another course designed by Jones, this 7,100-yard course offers views of the open countryside, a 30-foot waterfall and a 12-acre lake. The course also includes a golf shop, dining, luxury hotel rooms, RV park, shopping, live entertainment and spa.
Dodge Riverside Golf Club
Located in Council Bluffs, the Dodge Riverside Golf Club opened in 1927, making it one of the oldest golf courses in the area. It is located right next to Harrah’s Council Bluffs Hotel and Casino, which grants easy access to the course. Dodge Park is currently open to the public.
Golf Digest has named it one of the best courses to play. The 6,400-yard course backs up to the Missouri River with a great view of downtown Omaha. The course is accompanied by a pro shop, walking and biking trail and Riverside Grille, a bar and restaurant.
Spirit Hollow Golf Course
Located in Burlington, the Spirit Hollow Golf Course is less than a 10-minute drive from Catfish Bend Casino. It’s been ranked the “No. 1 Best Course You Can Play” by Golfweek. The Shankopotamus Golf Academy is open year-round at the course.
The 7,550-yard course, designed by Rick Jacobsen, features a variety of elevations, lending itself to a style of risk/reward play. It is accompanied by cabins for lodging, casual dining and the Golf Academy powered by Toptracer Range.
