Flavortown is coming to Iowa. Guy Fieri’s Council Bluffs Kitchen and Bar will open in May at Harrah’s Hotel and Casino. The $4 million restaurant is part of a $22 million renovation at Harrah’s, owned by Caesars Entertainment.

The new restaurant features an outdoor patio and also Fieri’s signature, American-stye cuisine with bold, robust flavors. The menu will include Fieri’s Trash Can Nachos and a selection of his signature sandwiches, burgers and desserts.

Harrah’s is currently seeking as many as 30 employees to work at the restaurant as cooks, servers, hosts and also other positions.

When Guy Fieri’s Council Bluffs Kitchen and Bar opens in a couple months, it will be the only one in Iowa. Currently, the closest Guy Fieri restaurant is in Branson, MO. The 8,000-square-foot kitchen and bar opened in 2020.

There’s another family-style Guy Fieri’s inside a Harrah’s in North Carolina. There’s also ones in Oklahoma, Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, California, Pittsburgh, Boston, Phoenix, Washington D.C. and Connecticut. His first restaurant was in Times Square in Manhattan. It closed in 2017 after five years in business.

Fieri operates 75 restaurants around the world. Other Fieri flavor options for Midwesterners include Guy Fieri’s Dive & Taco Joint in Kansas City and Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Kitchen in Lombard, Ill..

In 2019, Fieri received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His honor came at the same time as Julia Child, and they joined two other chefs with stars, Wolfgang Puck and Bobby Flay.

In 2006, Fieri won Food Network’s competition show, “Next Food Network Star.” He was given his own television series, “Guy’s Big Bite.” He also hosts “Guy’s Grocery Games,” “Tournament of Champions,” “Guy’s Ranch Kitchen” and the new “Guy’s Ultimate Game Night.”

Harrah’s Council Bluffs renovating casino floor and hotel

Sporting 24 casinos, Iowa is a welcoming state to gamblers. Regrettably, Iowa online casinos are still prohibited. That probably won’t change this year, though Iowans can enjoy online slots and table games at sweepstakes casinos that do not use real money such as Sweeptastic.

Harrah’s Council Bluffs renovation calls for a $6 million makeover of the gaming floor to add 200 more slot machines and also an enhanced sportsbook. A hotel remodel will cost around $12 million. It will include fresh design elements featuring bold purple and blue hues that complement the dark wood and contemporary fixtures, according to Harrah’s.

Across the Missouri River, Harrah’s Nebraska will open a temporary casino this month at Ag Park in Columbus, NE. The casino will feature about 250 slot machines. The permanent casino, expected to open next year, will cost around $75 million and feature a 40,000-square-foot casino and also a sportsbook.
