Iowa casinos have always been a popular spot for Super Bowl watch parties. Football bettors and fans may want to look into accommodations as they make plans for the big game.
According to projections by PlayUSA, US bettors will place more than $500 million in bets on Super Bowl 55 this year. Sunday’s match-up features Tom Brady‘s Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Patrick Mahomes‘ Kansas City Chiefs.
CBS and ESPN DEPORTES have the game this year. The kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. CST from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

Before you go: Iowa’s COVID-19 protocols
Iowa’s 19 casinos should be able to roll back some health measures in time for Super Bowl 55. Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds eased some restrictions in her most recent emergency health proclamation. It is effective until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, March 7. The governor’s statement on Friday said:
“The proclamation strongly encourages Iowans, businesses, and organizations to take reasonable public health measures consistent with guidance from the Iowa Department of Public Health.”
The new proclamation’s “strongly encourages” language is a departure from the emergency mandates that will expire Saturday. Starting Sunday, the governor encourages Iowa casinos to take “reasonable measures,” but will no longer have to:
- Space groups 6 feet apart.
- Require customers to sit down while eating and drinking.
- Provide adequate spacing for patron use of slot machines and table games.
- Require staff members who have direct contact with customers to wear masks.
- Require customers to wear masks when they aren’t sitting down at their table to eat or drink.
