The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) will be making a 2022 return to one of its most frequent stops at Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood, IA, just across the state line from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Starting on March 10 and running through March 13 with three starting flights, the MSPT will host a $50,000 main event with a $360 entry fee for this year’s Regional Series.

Satellites available for $100,000 at Grand Falls

Satellites have been running since February 10 on a weekly basis and will pick back up again on March 10. These satellites will run each day at 1 p.m. through March 12, which is the final day of the event’s three “Day One” flights.

The main event schedule is as follows:

  • Day 1 —
    • A — 5 p.m. Thursday, March 10
    • B — 5 p.m. Friday, March 11
    • C — 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12
  • Day 2 — 11 a.m. Sunday, March 13

How the MSPT main event at Grand Falls works

Players will start the main event with 25,000 chips at the 100/100/100 level. Plus, the big blind ante will be in effect from start to finish. Levels in this event will last 30 minutes, and late registration will close at the start of level 13.

Any player who bags at the end of a flight is not allowed to play a future flight unless they choose to forfeit their entire stack. As for players who do not bag, re-entry is allowed once per flight.

For those players who would rather satellite into the main rather than pay the full $360 entry fee, $80 satellites are available. One player for every six entries will qualify for the main event. The remainder is paid in cash to the bubble.

In addition to the main event, the MSPT will host a:

  • $300 Tag Team Championship at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 9
  • $150 Seniors Championship at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 10
  • $150 Turbo Deep Stack event at 10 a.m. Friday, March 11

There will also be a $250 Last Chance event at noon Sunday, March 13. Finally, there will be a $135 Thousandaire event, where one out of every 10 players in the field will win $1,000.

All of these events are re-entries, and they will all be trophy events.

Can the 2022 regional MSPT main event eclipse 2021’s turnout?

2021’s edition of the MSPT Regional South Dakota Main Event blew away even the most optimistic of expectations. It was also a $50,000 guarantee with a $360 entry fee. But, it drew a gigantic prize pool of $230,054 on the strength of 794 entries (and re-entries). First place alone nearly eclipsed the guaranteed total itself, as Las Vegas’ own Eric Atchison took home $46,020 as the big winner.

This won’t be the last stop in 2022 for the MSPT at the Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort. The tour will return Aug. 19-21. The late-summer tournament will once again feature a $100,000 main event in Larchwood with a $1,100 entry fee.
