The Midwest Gaming and Destinations magazine released its annual Midwest Gaming’s Readers’ Choice Awards voting results. And Iowa’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sioux City took first place in seven categories.
Midwest Gaming and Destinations readers selected Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sioux City first for the following categories:
- Casino Floor
- Casino Personnel
- Entertainment
- Entertainment Venue
- Night Life
- Restaurant
- Theme
According to Siouxland Proud, Doug Fisher, general manager of the Hard Rock said he was proud about the Iowa casino and his staff’s accomplishments:
“We are so proud of this property and most excited that our team members were recognized for all of their hard work and dedication.”
The results were released in the magazine’s last issue.
What is Midwest Gaming and Destinations magazine?
Midwest Gaming and Destinations magazine is a subscription-based bi-monthly publication. It was first published in 1999 and features gambling tips, property reviews and casino coupons among its collection of content.
Participating voters in Midwest Gaming’s Readers’ Choice Awards have a chance to win a casino getaway trip. The getaway includes:
- An overnight stay at a casino of their choice
- Gambling money
- Travel expenses
- Dining at a property restaurant of choice

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sioux City, one of the largest Iowa casinos
Rock ‘n’ roll-themed Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sioux City has a 45,000-square-foot casino floor. It features over 850 slot machines and 26 table games. The Iowa casino also has an online and retail sportsbook.
The four-diamond-rated Hard Rock Hotel features 54 rooms and six restaurants and bars. This all makes it one of the largest casinos in the state.
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sioux City was first announced by Warner Gaming in 2012. The over $135 million project opened its doors in August 2014.
Peninsula Pennsylvania Pacific purchased the property from Warner Gaming in 2020, and then sold it to Churchill Down Incorporated, along with several other properties, for $2.75 billion in November 2022.
The hotel and casino also have a venue for concerts and live shows; the Anthem Bar and Concert Venue. The venue can host up to 850 attendees.
